What this site is for

This is patient education about the jawline and the upper neck, published by Chongqing West District Hospital, a tertiary general hospital in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. It is an area guide rather than a procedure page: it answers which of several findings you have, which options address it, and how to choose between them. The individual treatments are described on the guides this site links to, and repeating them here would help nobody.

The distinction the site is built on

Bone, muscle, fat and skin produce four different complaints and are treated by means that have nothing in common. Almost everyone arrives with the four merged into one sentence about a jawline that has gone, and naming the right one is most of the decision. Treating a layer that is not at fault produces no visible change, and treating all four at once produces the over-treatment this area is known for.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not name products or brands, quote prices or dosages, or promise a result. It does not present a device, a cream or an exercise as a way of lifting descended tissue, narrowing bone, or repositioning the platysma, because none of them does any of those things. It does not describe surgical technique in detail, and it does not tell you which option to choose: that follows from an examination, and a website cannot perform one.

The limits of a website

Nothing here can tell you how much of your own lower face is muscle, whether your jaw angle is wide in bone, how much of the fullness under your chin is fat and how much is a gland, or how well your skin will recoil. Those answers come from someone examining you, from the front and in profile, at rest and while clenching, which takes minutes in person and cannot be taken from a photograph. Use this site to arrive at an assessment with better questions, and treat any answer you receive here as general information rather than as advice about you.
